I wonder, Can we do Direct attack when opponent have 1 face-up earthbound immortal on the field?,,
Earthbounds reminds me for legendary Fisherman

    Legendary Fisherman eff and Rulings

    eff:
As long as "Umi" is face-up on the field, this card is unaffected by any Spell Cards. Monsters on your opponent's side of the field cannot select this card as an attack target.

    ruling:
"If a face-up "The Legendary Fisherman" is the only monster you control, when your opponent's monsters attack, they attack you directly.[1]"

    earthbound eff and ruling

    ccapac apu eff:
"There can only be 1 face-up "Earthbound Immortal" monster on the Field. If there is no face-up Field Spell Card on the Field, destroy this card. Your opponent cannot select this card as an attack target. This card can attack your opponent Directly. If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the destroyed monster's ATK."

    ruling
"If you control an Earthbound Immortal and no other monsters, your opponent cannot attack you, because they cannot select the Earthbound Immortal as an attack target. (Exception: they can attack with monsters that can attack directly, such as “Submarineroid.”)"

I get the ruling both from netrep and their Bolded eff looks like the same but why they ruling looks completely different??
that makes no sense for me -.-

    There's a difference in wordings:
Monsters on your opponent's side of the field cannot select this card as an attack target.
Your opponent cannot select this card as an attack target.

Logically, nothing prevents you from selecting the Fisherman as an attack target, so you can declare an attack with a monster, but the monster cannot select the Fisherman as a target so it goes for the Life Points instead.
The Earthbounds however prevent you from selecting them as a target in the first place, so you can't declare an attack with a monster, if they are the only ones on their field.

The only thing left to say I thing would be o.o

They can attack you if they control a monster that allows direct attack as Unifrog since it does not select a monster to go through.

iam a little confused too about the Immortals effect....
Is it same as Fisherman's efect when your opponents monster attack while Immortal is in your field or not....
maybe that opponents monster can attack direct your Life Points Directly.....

It makes more sense when it comes to Japanese language :/
I guess it has something to do with translating
Anyway I don't think you could attack me when I got a face-up earthbound....simple as that because it will ruin the whole point of Earthbounds -_-

Its because Earthbounds are harder to get out, and becaue Legendary Fisherman swims underwater, so your monsters swim over him and attack you directly.

That would have been the case if you would logic just like in the anime, but it's the wording that makes the difference here. -.-

Well the reason for them being worded different is just the Konami forgetting their old rulings really. and Thats why they had to errata the EBI's so they were worded differently.

And all this changes to them having different rulings.

As far as i can see, there's no errata on the ebi's. They were meant to be worded like that from the first place, just like the Fisherman was meant to be worded like that, which results in different rulings.
Konami know what they're doing, at least about this they do.
