Which of the following is correct?

a). Johnny is unable to Tribute Summon Celestia, Lightsworn Angel since it would cause him to lose the game. This is an example of illegal gameplay.

b). The effect of Garoth, Lightsworn Warrior will not activate since no cards remain to be drawn.

c). The effect of Garoth, Lightsworn Warrior activates. Johnny is forced to draw from his Deck. Since he cannot Draw when required to, he loses the game.

b). Leo cannot activate the effect of Thought Ruler Archfiend if Chris chooses to Special Summon the Psychic-Type monster from his Deck since you cannot target cards in the Deck. Leo can activate the effect of Thought Ruler Archfiend if Chris chooses to Special Summon the Psychic-Type monster from his hand.

c). Leo can activate the effect of Thought Ruler Archfiend, paying 1000 Life Points, negating and destroying Emergency Teleport.

    e). None of the above.

    Question 3:

Neither player wishes to activate anymore effects. Which of the following is correct?

a). Sangan is a mandatory effect but must wait for the current chain to finish resolving and will start a new chain. Mobius the Frost Monarch will be Chain Link 1 of the current Chain. Torrential Tribute will be Chain Link 2 of the current Chain.

b). Sangan is a mandatory effect so must resolve before Mobius the Frost Monarch can even activate. After Sangan has resolved, Mobius the Frost Monarch will be Chain Link 1. Torrential Tribute cannot be activated since it has missed the timing since the last event to happen was Sangan resolving and not the successful Summon of Mobius the Frost Monarch.

c). Sangan is a mandatory effect and is placed first on the chain as Chain Link 1. Mobius the Frost Monarch is Chain Link 2. Torrential Tribute is Chain Link 3.

Congratz to GothicMess for being the high scorer of this week, he has been awarded 200 SC.

    RESULTS:

    Question 1:
    Topic: Costs and effects.
    Correct answer: e
    a). 0%
    b). 9.09%
    c). 54.54%
    d). 0%
    e). 36.36%

    Response a).
Johnny is able to Tribute Summon Celestia, even if it was to cause him losing the game. It is not illegal to activate a card that would cause you to lose.

    Response b).
The effect of Garoth the Lightsworn Warrior will not activate, but not because there are no cards remaining in the Deck.

    Response c).
The effect of Garoth the Lightsworn Warrior will not activate, and Johnny is not forced to draw from his Deck.

    Response d).
You do not lose a duel if no cards remain in your Deck, you only lose the duel when you are supposed to Draw a card from your Deck and you cannot because you have no cards remaining to be drawn.

    Response e).
The correct answer (for once) was none of the above! Celestia's milling effect is not an effect at all, it is an activation cost! Garoth only activates his effect is a Lightsworn sends cards to the Graveyard by its EFFECT, not by a cost. Thus, Celestia's mills (because they are costs) will not cause Garoth to activate and Johnny will not lose the duel.

    Question 2:
    Topic: Targetting.
    Correct answer: d
    a). 0%
    b). 0%
    c). 9.09%
    d). 91.91%
    e). 0%

    Response a).
Leo is not able to activate the effect of Thought Ruler Archfiend, regardless of where Chris wishes to Special Summon a monster from.

    Response b).
Once again, an effect that Special Summons a card from the hand or the Deck does not target that card. Leo cannot activate Thought Ruler's effect regardless of where the monster is being summoned from.

    Response c).
    Emergency Teleport does not target.

    Response d).
This is correct. Emergency Teleport will resolve because Thought Ruler's effect cannot be chain to its activation.

    Response e).
By reasoning this statement is not the correct response.

    Question 3:
    Topic: Card Lore.
    Correct answer: d
    a). 36.36%
    b). 18.18%
    c). 18.18%
    d). 27.27%
    e). 0%

I knew this would be difficult and it appeared it was. Nobody was very sure about the correct answer with 75% of you giving the incorrect responses. Well done to the few that got it right.

    Response a).
Spirit Reaper's self destruction effect is only applied when the targetting EFFECT resolves, not when its only targeted. Spirit Reaper will be returned to the hand at resolution and thus cannot destroy itself.

    Response b).
Spirit Reaper does return to the owners hand, but Brionac's effect does target so this is not the reason why.

    Response c).
Spirit Reaper does return to the owners hand, but its effect will not and cannot activate in the hand. Its effect only applies if Spirit Reaper is face up on the field when the targetting effect has resolved.

    Response d).
The correct response well done to the few that got this. From what we have concluded, Spirit Reaper will return to the owners hand with no destruction effect taking place.

    Response e).
An infinite loop does not exist in this situation.

    Question 4:
    Topic: Card Lore.
    Correct answer: a
    a). 100%
    b). 0%
    c). 0%
    d). 0%
    e). 0%

WOO i havent had a question where everyone got it right in a while Very Happy well done!!

    Response a).
Correct, Black Rose Dragon's effect will not stop the activation of a flip effect of a face-down flip effect monster.

    Response b).
Token monster are no different to ordinairy monsters while on the field. They cannot be selected as a target for Black Rose Dragon's effect if they are in Attack Position.

    Response c).
You cannot target a face-up attack position monster for this effect, Black Rose Dragon's effect can only hit monster that are in defence position like the card says and can be changed to attack position.

    Response d).
Flip effects will activate since the monster is being flipped up. Black Rose Dragon does not state that flip effects will not be activated or that they will be negated by the use of her effect.

    Response e).
    Incorrect.

    Question 5:
    Topic: Chain Link
    Correct answer: c
    a). 18.18%
    b). 0%
    c). 72.73%
    d). 0%
    e). 9.09%

    Response a).
Sangan's effect activates as soon as it is sent to the Graveyard (since it is Mandatory). It will not start a new chain.

    Response b).
Torrential cannot miss the timing here since the last thing to happen is the sucessful summon of mobius, which can be responded to with torrential tribute.

    Response c).
Correct, Sangan is placed as chain link 1 as it activates as soon as it is sent to the Graveyard, Mobius' effect chains to it once it is sucessfully summoned and trigger condition has been met, then Torrential becomes Chain Link 3 as a response to the sucessful summon.

Lucy sends Sangan to the Graveyard for a tribute Summon.
Chain Link 1: Sangan's effect activates.
---Lucy summons Mobius the Frost Monarch---
Chain Link 2: Mobius the Frost Monarch effect is triggered and 2 Spell/Trap cards are targetted.
Chain Link 3: Torrential Tribute is chained to the successful summon on Mobius the Frost Monarch.
    ---Chain resolves backwards---
Chain Link 3: Torrential Tribute destroys all monster on the field.
Chain Link 2: Mobius destroys the 2 selected Spell/Trap cards.
Chain Link 1: Sangan adds a monster of 1500 ATK or less to Lucy's hand.

    Response d).
Sangan does not resolve before Mobius activates. This will be delaying the chain and interupting the summon of Mobius the Frost Monarch which sangan cannot do.

    Response e).
    Incorrect.

    Question 6: FALSE
    True: 9.09%
    False: 90.91%

Quick Effects are the only monster effect type that are of Spell Speed 2. These effects can be activated during either players turn.

    Question 7: TRUE
    True: 36.36%
    False: 63.64%

Just like how tokens cannot be tributed to the Graveyard specifically as a cost of card (since they never go to the Graveyard the cost is not met), they also cannot be tributed to the Graveyard specifically for a Summon Condition. If a card specifys that "This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set, This card can only be Special Summoned by tribute 2 monsters to the Graveysed from your side of the field..." then tokens cannot be used for the summon condition of this card.

    Question 8: FALSE
    True: 63.64%
    False: 36.36%

Continuous Spell Cards do not all have Continouous Effects. It is true in saying ALL continuous effects do not start a chain but not ALL continuous Spell Cards do not start a chain. Some COntinuous Spell cards have trigger effects and DO start a chain. Examples can be Black Whirlwind, which starts a chain when a Blackwing monster is Normal Summoned to the field, or Black Garden , which starts a chain when ant monster is Normal or Special Summoned to the field.
