When I say The shining you probably think of the horror film starring Jack Nicholson; you know the one with the ghosts of two little twin girls and they say "Come play with us!" Well I've never seen that movie, but I heard it was pretty scary and it seems that in their attempt to revive the elemental heroes Konami has decided to take the shining concept and create a scary card to match its name called Elemental Hero The Shining. Why is this card so scary? Well let's take a look at its effect and break it down:
LIGHT Attribute
1 "Elemental Hero" monster + 1 LIGHT monster
This card cannot be Special Summoned except by Fusion Summon. This card gains ATK equal to the number of your removed from play "Elemental Hero" monsters x 300. When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, you can select up to 2 of your removed from play "Elemental Hero" monsters, and add them to your hand.
1 "Elemental Hero" monster + 1 LIGHT monster
This means that you can fusion summon this with any LIGHT monster, and to date what are the strongest LIGHT monsters? That's right Lightsworns. If you put this card in a Lightsworn deck you can mill a bunch of cards then fusion summon this by removing a Lightsworn and an Elemental hero like Neos Alius who is also a LIGHT monster and would be a great fit in a Lightsworn deck. You can also use other fusion cards like super polymerization if you are facing a Lightsworn deck or an absolute zero deck. Future fusion would also be a good card to bring shining out, and will allow you to dump that fourth Lightsworn you may need to summon Judgment Dragon.
This card gains ATK equal to the number of your removed from play "Elemental Hero" monsters x 300.
Probably the added bonus of this card. It already has 2600 ATK, and if you use Miracle Fusion to bring this guy out in a lightsworn deck you are guaranteed that he will have at least 2900 ATK assuming you didn't use two elemental heroes to bring it out. 2900 ATK is enough to run over pretty much every monster we're seeing right now like Drill Warrior or Stardust. If you run this card in combination to abosulte zero or another shining and use another miracle fusion its attack could increase enough to run over the big monsters like Red Dragon Archfiend, and Judgment Dragon.
When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, you can select up to 2 of your removed from play "Elemental Hero" monsters, and add them to your hand.
This in my opinion is the most broken effect of this card because it lets you add up to two e-heroes from your grave and if you abuse miracle fusion this effect could give you great hand advantage, and not to mention you could use this to abuse Stratos' effect to blow up the backrow if you have another hero on the field. This could also help you by giving you fusion materials ready to go in your hand and all you'd need is a polymerization to bring out yet another shining. There's plenty of other ways your monsters could get removed besides miracle fusion too. Remember that almost every deck runs two copies of bottomless trap hole, Caius has been getting a lot of play in various different deck types, and with dimensional prison available as a common in a structure deck it will be very easy for your opponent to remove your e-heroes, and shining would allow you to bring them right back.
Expect to see lightsworns having more play becuase of this card and absolute zero. These two heroes will give lightsworns the control aspect that the previous builds lacked and could make them competitive in the meta game again.
