question about Fizzle + some question

what does fizzle mean ? i dont get it at all

if firedog attack ryko , ryko eff to destroy firedog will firedog get the effect ? i didnt find it anywhere ;o

Since firedog stated that it's effect triggered when destroying a monster by battle and send it to graveyard. So, no, i think it's because it has to ensure that Ryko is send to graveyard, while at that time he has been destroyed by ryko's effect. The same goes for Thought Ruler Archfiend, you don't get life point if you attacking ryko.

another card that has different lore or role? is Hyper Psychic Blaster which only triggered when he's "attack a monster with a defense position". HPB effect will be chainlink 1 and Ryko's will be chainlink2, so then Ryko's effect will destroy HPB but then chainlink1 resolve and HPB effect will be activated in graveyard.

Question 1: An example of fizzling is when 2 card effects select the same target. The higher chain link will affect the selected card, and if the lower chain link can't affect that card, then the effect will fizzle.

Question 2: No, Firedog has to be face-up at the end of the damage step for the effect to activate.
